Operating systems, as well as hardware components of a computer, become obsolete over time. Thus, third party software ceases to provide support, focusing only on the newer and most used OS.
This is what’s happening in the Windows ecosystem: Firefox will stop supporting Windows XP and Windows Vista as of September 2017. That doesn’t mean the popular browser will stop working on those operating systems, but merely that will not be released software updates and security patches. Support will not be interrupted without a smooth transition to the status of “Extended Support Releases“, scheduled for March 2017, during which Windows XP and Windows Vista maintains a level of safety standards, at least initially.
The exact dates of end of support will be released in the first half of 2017. We remind you that using outdated software and operating systems put your own security at risk: you are no longer protected from new vulnerabilities and threats. Arm yourself with the best antivirus and take the plunge: upgrade to a newer Windows operating system.
