Among hundreds of landing page builders available online, we also find some plugins for WordPress that help you design a professional landing page. Plugins generally require more knowledge and skills than online platforms: you need to know how to handle WordPress, integrations and API keys properly. According to most advanced users, one of the best plugins for creating landing pages is OptimizePress and Thrive Landing Pages is its direct competitor.
From the start Thrive Theme is more complicated than the rival: first thing in is quite difficult to understand which packages you really need and which ones to buy individually or bundled. Thrive Themes shows you different products:
- Thrive Leads that helps you increase leads and email subscriptions via email opt-in plugins for WordPress;
- WordPress Themes for bloggers and affiliate marketers;
- Thrive Content Builder, a plugin for WordPress that helps you design great web pages and good looking landing pages;
- Thrive Landing Pages, a tool that enables you to create customizable, responsive and conversion optimized sales pages, landing pages, and lead generation pages.
All products are SEO optimized. As you can deduce, there is a lot of irons in the fire, and it is not easy to understand what you really need relying on the Thrive Theme home information. Assuming that your job is to design landing pages, you have to purchase the Thrive Landing Pages package. Thrive Themes offers it in a bundle with the Thrive Content Builder and Thrive Lightboxes: choose it and you’ll make the most of your pages boasting a drag and drop page builder able to create landing pages and lead generation with two-step opt-ins.
There’s no trial: you have to select and purchase a package, but a 30-day full refund is available. Once you sign up to the service, you can install the plugin on WordPress and active it with a license key.
Now, you can start creating adding a new page as you usually do on WordPress. You can choose to edit it with the Thrive Content Builder or the default WordPress editor. Save you page as a draft and open Thrive Content Builder. The editor shows options and settings in a column on the right.
Under “Save Changes” and “Preview” options, you’ll find a drop-down menu: you’ll find “Import Landing Page” and “Choose Landing Page” alternatives. Click on the latter one and you’ll be able to pick from 30+ pre-made and responsive templates that look quite professional and well-designed. The light box shows three tabs: “Default Landing Pages”, “Custom Landing Pages”, “Thrive Template Cloud”. Custom Landing Pages shows all pages you already customized and saved; Thrive Template Cloud provides more templates you can freely download and add to your collection.
All templates can be filtered by tags. Once selected the right template, you’ll be redirected again to the editor. Insert images and elements, change the text and resize objects is straightforward and accessible to most novice users. You’ll be able to edit your page in real-time.
Thrive Content Builder groups elements you can add to the page into three different sections:
- Simple Content Elements: paragraph and text, WordPress content, image, button, icon, credit card icon, custom HTML, custom CSS, content container, content reveal, star rating;
- Multi-Style Elements: content templates, column layout, content box, symbol box, social share buttons, quote share, styled list, divider, testimonial, call to action and guarantee box;
- Advanced Elements: widget, pricing table, tabbed content, feature grid, content toggle, table, data elements, Google map embed, countdown timer, responsive video, table of contents, lead generation, post grid, comments.
As you can sense, the builder is feature-rich, but nevertheless, it’s incredibly intuitive: all you have to do is select the element (every item is available in different styles) and drop it where you like it. The text is fully customizable and can be placed anywhere. Some of the mentioned items are so obvious that don’t need explanations, but we must say a few words on others. The WordPress Content one, for example, is a useful feature that lets you insert text and media via WordPress editor.
Thrive provides you six button styles to pick from, but they can be modified. The Icon element, thanks to the IcoMoon app, offers hundreds of visuals. The Custom CSS option helps skilled users add and style piece of contents. Talking about more advanced features, Content Boxes, Styled list, and Divider elements add more styling options to your content.
Very nice four customizable Call-To-Action elements help convert your leads in an easy way. Tabbed Content is a small space where you can place a lot of text. The Lead Generation feature integrates with your service provider to help you reach a wider audience. Thrive Content Builder and Landing Pages indeed integrates with the best email marketing services out there: ActiveCampaign, Aweber, Constant Contact, Drip, GetResponse, iContact, Infusionsoft, Mad Mimi, MailChimp, MailerLite, SendReach, SendinBlue, and Sendy. Thanks to custom HTML it’s easy to add autoresponders. Analytics and stats are available only via custom scripts.
You can also set Google Fonts and Retina icons. Let’s talk about downsides: to design a form you have to buy the Thrive Lead package. Furthermore, you can perform the A/B testing only via Google’s Content Experiments. When you’ve finished editing your landing page, all you have to do is coming back to WordPress editor and publish it.
A detailed FAQs and Video Tutorials sections are available: step by step guides are made accurately enough, although sometimes screenshots show an outdated interface. Customer support is available via forum and tickets, and it’s valid for one year then you’ve to renew it. The lack of chat support is quite a bummer.
Thrive Content Builder+Thrive Landing Page+Thrive Lightboxes bundle is available in three pricing tiers:
- single site license for individuals, it costs $67. You can install and activate the plugin on one single website;
- unlimited sites license for individuals, it costs $97. You can install and activate the plugin on all of your websites;
- agency license, it costs $49/month paid annually. You can install and activate the plugin on your clients’ websites.
There’s no trial, but you can ask a full refund within 30 days.
Conclusion
Thrive Content Builder+Thrive Landing Pages is a great bundle for your landing pages needs. I find the Thrive Themes’ website is too confusing when you need to understand wich plugin you do need: the information they provide before the purchase are pretty generic, especially for novice users.
In my opinion, the OptimizePress site is easier to understand, gives better help through each step from purchase to installation and provides a more immediate customer support. Talking about features, Thrive Landing Pages and OptimizePress are very similar.
